Its scientific name is Sipunculus nudus. It is a worm with pink or greyish tones. Its body is trunk-shaped with a reversible trunk. The mouth is at the anterior extremity surrounded by a group of tentacles.

This bait comes from Greece and it is wild, it cannot get farmed. It has 32 longitudinal and other circular muscles that give it a reticulated and hard-skinned appearance. It is sedentary and lives in galleries dug in the mud or sand of coastal sea beds, interred in sediments or shallow waters. This musculature gives it a strength and thickness that makes it very strong when casting.
Its effectiveness is well known for catching large and noble fish.
